I’m an artist living in the qathet region located on the traditional territory of the Tla’amin Nation.
I spent most of my early life in southern Alberta surrounded by natural beauty. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts majoring in painting and sculpture from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Education majoring in art from the University of Lethbridge. I am also a Red Seal certified carpenter.
I had a professional career as an educator for 30 years, teaching woodworking, carpentry and drafting, most recently with Vancouver Island University. I also taught continuing education woodworking courses to community learners.
Now that I have retired from teaching, my mission is to draw on my life experiences, knowledge and skills, and mold them into my career as an independent artist. My efforts are mostly one of a kind furniture, sculpture, painting and drawing. My furniture and sculpture are mainly made from salvaged or repurposed materials. I love the tactile and beautiful look of wood, which inspires me to carve, construct and shape. For my paintings I utilize airbrush and acrylic paint. My inspiration comes from international travel and culture, the richness of natural materials and natural beauty.
